Error message 0xc0000142

When I start my computer the icons do not show on desktop; an error message explorer.exe pops up saying application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000142. How do I correct this problem?

Check the Event Viewer:
Start > Run, type in: eventvwr.msc and click Ok.
Expand the event viewer window.
Click once on either Applications or System in the Left pane.
Double click on an error listed in the Right pane to bring up a details window.
Click the link if present at the end of the description to a page with a "possible
solution".

Is this particular error repeatable or does it occur randomly (with a different code/memory address)?

HMMM sounds like cross linked files as explorer.exe is failing,solution try running scandisk from a floppy,otherwise could be facing a reinstall.???.
