I have a ThinkPad T580 which I have never before used unattached from its docking station. I'm doing so now, running on external power through the laptop's portable charger. I keep getting messages that say "Battery 2: The battery is not detected. Try reinstalling or recharging the battery to solve the problem."
It will be difficult to solve the problem that way because, as far as I know, there is no battery 2. If there is, it has been there since the machine was new and never caused a speck of trouble until today.
So why am I getting this message now, and how can I make it go away?
