I am receiving the error message "There is a syntax error in the SIF
file that setup uses at line (1246 or 1779 or 4432). Setup cannot
continue. Shutdown or restart your computer.
I am using an ASUS A7V133 motherboard with an AMD K-7 1000 266 MHz
processor. I have three memory ticks DIMM 512MB SDRAM PC133 memory
chips.
I have changed hard drives, video cards from AGP Pro video slot to a
PCI video card, removed and tested each stick of memory, attempted to
use the Promise IDE controller chip to handle the hard drive. I have
changed out the CD-ROM three times in case it was a read problem. I
have also borrowed my son's Windows 2000 Pro. software card, and still
receive the same error.
As far as I can determine with out paying $700.00 for a hardware and
software test cards, I have a bad processor or a bad mother board.
Does any one have a suggestion of where I go from here, or should I
just replace the mother board?
