Error since Windows reinstall

Hi all,

I am having problems with Euro Truck simulator 2, Rome total war 1 and total war shogun 2. These games were working fine up until one day, I don't know what has changed.

When I now try to start any of these games I get a dll. error.

I downloaded some dll files to try and repair/ replace them like steam.dll for Euro Truck Simulator 2 but of course it didn't work ( yes I know its bad to download these).

I then decided to do a total wipe of my C:/ and update all my drivers and bits and bops but when I try to run these games i still get a dll error.

So after hours of research I have done dozens of reinstalls of the games and Windows to no avail. I have updated all my drivers, windows update and installed dx11.

Error messages:

RomeTW= combase.dll is missing from my computer
Shogun2=D3Dcompiler_42.dll is missing from my computer.
ETS2= Steam.dll is missing...

there is a clear pattern but why and how after I wipe my hard drive this should not be possible right? If anyone could help me please this would be appreciated, it is so frustrating especially after being able to play those games on my laptop.

where did you get the games? the install didn't include directx?

the games are digital copies from game stop and steam, there is direct x for total war but not for ets2 however i tried already installing it from the directory folder and i get the same error message.

they are all older games, it probably using directx 9 not 11.

true, but i cant downgrade. If i try to install dx9 it says "an internal system error occurred directx please refer to dxerror.log"

Where can I get the direct x log from? I want to post it so you can help me guys.
