Hello! For quite some time I'm having this strange problem with my PC running Windows 7. Basically, my PC will every now and then (about once every two weeks or so) disable my Aero Theme out of nowhere, only for it to re-enable itself minutes later. Checking into Event Viewer, I notice that every time this occurs, my PC reports Error Event ID 1000.
Faulting application name: winsat.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce798fc
Faulting module name: atiuxp64.dll, version: 8.14.1.6463, time stamp: 0x5588b209
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000000aa7e
Faulting process id: 0x888

Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\winsat.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\atiuxp64.dll
I assume this is related to my graphics driver.
Every time this happens I'm just casually browsing the internet (not even using Flash or anything that might trigger my APU acting strange). Also, during the time my PC disables Aero Theme, Asus Suite reports a spike in the CPU (APU, in my case) core temp, with it jumping to 60 degrees for a few seconds before going back down.
How should I go about fixing this? Thanks! :)

I have no idea about the PSU though... Also, another question, if I may : can you recommend any reliable software to check my CPU core temp? I have just run Speccy, and the temperature there jumps like crazy between 72 C and 100 C, while in ASUS Suite II it's constant at 46 C.

Quick edit about the CPU temperature thingy: I just checked my Thermal Margin in AMD overdrive, and it sits well at ~48 degrees C . Speccy, on the other hand, keeps insisting that my CPU is running at 72 degrees.

Have you checked to see if you are running the latest driver from AMD?
If not:

As to your question on CPU temp Asus and AMD are known for having serious flaws in their software. My Asus P9X79 PRO's AI Suite ll reports crap all the time that I know isn't true. Speccy gathers its info from your bios and most other software will do the same. However, if you want to try another:

Realtemp.
CPU thermomether.

Solution
Thank you for the answer! :) Just updated to the latest version of Catalyst available for me (15.7.1). Still, I don't know of any way to be sure whether the problem was solved or not, seeing how it just seems to happen at random (it rarely occurs less than two weeks after its last appearance), and doesn't seem to be triggered by anything in particular (it always happens while I'm randomly browsing the internet, so there's nothing that could be too soliciting for my PC to handle).

You might consider a stress test. I use Prime 95
It can make a problem happen now.
