Question Error: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid

Hi:

I am using ccleaner to wipe my USB flash drive. After 5 GB written, the program stops and shows the following error:

the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.

I tried several fixes online but nothing has helped. Still the same error.
 
Second drivinfast247 suggestion.

On this post I think there need to be explained why you want to "wipe" the usb stick instead of formatting it.

If let unanswered then my best guess will be that probably there are some internal malfunction to the usb stick, and therefore the OP figured try something else because formatting an already damaged storage device simply may not work.
