Back story: had a problem and decided to wipe windows and do a fresh install. Removed HDD and used a sata to usb with power cord and used my laptop to copy files and reformat the drive. Formatted fine and installed HDD back into desktop. I dont have a cd drive but i have windows on a usb drive.

Insert usb drive in and go into bios set usb drive as #1, booted computer.

Brought me to the windows installed screen and I selected drive 0 partition 1 and it gave me the error below:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. "This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu."

No idea what caused this, any ideas on a fix? Desperate here this is my design PC!

HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB drive
Motherboard has a marking on it like this Asus N13219

with windows install the drive that going to be installed too has to have no partions or data on it. boot into window again use advance mode and delete the partion on the hard drive you want to use then reboot and try again. also in the laptop bios csm may need to be on or off and legicy boot may need to be on too.

I have tried deleting the partition and installing with windows but i get the same error no matter what.

the computer im trying to do this on is a desktop not a laptop, i just used the laptop to backup data and wipe drive before reinstall it into the desktop

in the desktop bios is the hard drive showing. also under boot with asus make sure the bios sayes efi and legicy boot. under boot. if the error still there try download new iso from digital rivers and use the free microsft iso to usb tool to make a new usb boot stick.

I've tried a few other things as well, a different win 7 installer (dvd version) and also another hdd and nothing has worked, keeps coming up with the same error. That's why I figure it is probably a bios setting.

I don't see "efi bios" in the boot area anywhere, but on the main tab it shows legacy and it is selected

Do I need to have some sort of drivers to install win 7?

Right now the hard drive is completely empty and not partitioned and I get this error when trying to go to the next step with drive 0 selected.

I've tried 2 different HDDs and no good. Any suggestions? Driving me insane lol
