Hi all, I was recently testing a laptop for a friend, and thought I would give it a small test with unigine valley and some steam games.

However, when I try to launch Unigine valley, I am met with an error saying:
"D3D9AppWindow::createcontex(): required multisample is not supported
Engine:video_restart(): can't set 1280x720 windowed video mode"
This message comes up twice, first in a window titled: "Can't set video mode", and second as: "Unigine fatal error".

I shrugged this off as a problem with compatability with the software, and tried to run skyrim, however here I was met with the error message:
"Failed to initialize renderer".

The laptop model is an "Asus K53E"

I apologize if this is in the wrong area, I just felt that it was a graphics based problem.

Thanks for your help :)

Solution
At Unigine Valley try to disable anti-aliasing and choose the default screen's resolution 1080p
Now about Skyrim, it was supposted to run, I would normally say that the gpu is not strong enough, but it's an Intel HD 3000, it should be able to handle the game
So like the others said, check the drivers and the DirectX version installed
