You can't legally buy an ES (engineering sample) CPU. They are owned by Intel and can't legally be sold.
Here is Intel's FAQ about ES processors -- https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000056190/processors.html
And yet they're bought and sold all the time aren't they. Not that it's "right", especially for the person who came into possession of it legitimately, but apparently it happens.

What happens if you come into possession of one? Does Intel come to the door with some big burly guys and take them away if they are made aware of it?

I didn't say it wasn't done. Only that it is not legal to do so.
The only people that "come into possession" of an ES CPU legitimately are people or organizations that Intel sends them to.
Anything else violated Intel's agreements with the original loan agreement.
If you "come into possession" of an ES CPU, the correct thing to do is contact Intel and return the CPU.

ok dont fight guys. i know its illegal but i cant buy one from china. i only want to know is the performance same as origial legal version?
Because it is illegal, discussing it is against board rules. This thread is closed.
