Is there really a difference in cables for sata 3 gb/s vs 6 gb/s? Most particularly, I would like to buy an esata bracket with internal cables for my PC that is rated 6 gb/s, and I can't find one that specifically states 6 gb/s, and I was wondering whether it really made any difference?

SATA cables that are not labeled 6Gb/s should be able to transmit data at 6Gb/s speeds, but sometimes if the quality of the cable is cheap it doesn't.

Benchmark your SSD with ATTO software. ATTO uses highly compressible data to test Read/Write speeds. Highly compressible data is the easiest type of data for any SSD to Read/Write.
If your Read/Write results are greater than 300MB/s then you know the cable is working at 6Gb/s speeds.
