Each and every time my computer boots, it flashes in the POST screen 'Update ESCD Successful'. Having made no hardware changes since the first installation, I'm curious as to why it continues to update the ESCD. Here are my vitals:

ASUS A7V333
BIOS version 1005 (set to pnp OS & 'No' to update ESCD)
Athlon 1.4
Windows XP Home
ASUS 8200 GF3Ti
Audigy SC
DLink Network Card
512 RAM (@166)
IBM 40 GB HD
Latest & greatest drivers for all

The system works fine--but I worry because this ESCD thing preceeded the death of my first ASUS A7V333. Any ideas?

I could be wrong, but I think if you toggle the "Plug and Play aware O/S" BIOS setting that will cease.
