Last fall I bought a Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD2 Micro-ATX Mobo from Newegg for Cyber Monday. When it arrived, I opened up the packaging to take a look inside. Though the details are a bit fuzzy, I'm fairly sure I touched one of the 15V electrolytic capacitors farthest the CPU. Before doing this I had touched a screw on the light switch to the room and the door knob hoping it would equalize my charge. When I touched it, I felt no charge, but I am worried as it was nearing winter and simply walking across the hallway could generate a zap when touching something metal.
I'm aware it's a stupid idea to purchase the parts months ago and then start building now but I am worried that I will spend several hours putting the build together only to have to go through Gigabyte's seemingly horrible warranty and returns system or altogether purchase a new mobo.
Could anyone shed some light on this? Am I just being needlessly paranoid or could I have done some damage to the IC or capacitor?
