Question ESD on metal surrounding GFX

If your case is properly grounded......meaning if the middle terminal of the outlet is grounded and the cord and the PSU are good......

then what happened is.....YOU were charged up with static and discharged it to the metal surrounding of the GPU.....which should be grounded........and life is good.

When you need to be concerned is.....if the case isn't properly grounded...

OR

You touch an electrical component and get a shock.

....but if you touch the case (and it's properly grounded) or anything electrically connected to the case (and the case is properly grounded) and you get a shock.....you should be OK.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
No the PSU/case is not grounded because the wall outlets aren’t. The PC seems to be working fine so far.

Also, the PC was on when i felt a static shock.

Should everything be fine?
