ESD while not grounding

I am the novice here and I don't know that ESD is very dangerous to PC component so I carelessly touch motherboard while wearing wooly sock plus on a carpet. Although I haven't noticed any shock because I sit down on the carpet while carefully take out motherboard out of an anti-static bag that came with. Is there any risk to damage severely due to this condition? Of course, I put my motherboard on the box not on the anti-static bag after taking off.

It depends where you touched the motherboard.

You won't know if you did any damage until you have built the rig and pressed the power button.
