Hi,

What would be the essentials to install after a new PC build for components and to get everything to work.
So far I installed Win10 Home, and made the windows update. I think I won't update bios unless there is some sort of problems later on.
Ryzen 3600+MSI B550 Carbon wifi gaming.

Should I install these from MSI MOBO site, and what else ?

1.AMD Chipset driver
2.Realtek PCI-E Ethernet drivers (even if my internet is working at the moment with ethernet ?)
3.Realtek HD universal driver
4.How about AMD Graphics drivers if I have a GTX 1070
5.How about AM4 Raid Driver
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-B550-GAMING-CARBON-WIFI#down-driver&Win10 64

6.Graphics card (GTX 1070) drivers

Could be a good idea to install something like Driver Booster 8 Free. It will install a bunch of sub-drivers so you don't have to do them manually. I would recommend uninstalling it once you're finished as they spam a lot.

IOBit Uninstaller Free to help you uninstall gloatware like Microsft Teams or OneDrive.

Something like Speccy, HWMonitor or CPU-Z to ensure that all clocks are correct, temps arefine, etc...

A quick anti-virus sweep is alware nice. Malwarebytes and ADWCleaner.

Hard Disk Sentinel to check if your hard drives are in good cobdition.

And don't forget to update Windows 10. Multiple times.

Nvidia GeForce Experience for automatic and easy GPU driver updates. Or manually through Nvidia's website. No need for AMD Graphics Driver

yes, install the chipset drivers from AMD and get the latest drivers for your Nvidia video card.

I like to always get HWInfo and CPU-z to check up on things, make sure everything is kosher.

DO NOT EVER INSTALL DRIVER BOOSTER OR ANY UTILITY THAT UPDATES DRIVERS.

only get your updated drivers from the manufacturers website

DO NOT EVER INSTALL IOBIT SOFTWARE FOR ANY REASON EITHER.

windows comes with the best antivirus there is, bar none, so don't bother with any of that junk either.

all you need is clean windows install, all windows updates, chipset drivers, graphics drivers and a few utilities

your machine will run very smooth and fast. You don't ever want to run CCleaner (that piece of crap ruined many windows installations for me and my co-workers) for any reason, no reason anyone ever needs to 'clean' (i.e. ruin) your registry. Leave the registry alone. People who think by getting rid of registry entries makes windows faster don't know how the hive works in the first place.

Yes sir, my sentiments exactly. Driver booster often fetches old or wrong drivers.
IObit is fat old spyware. Revo Uninstaller even free is much better and can uninstall modern APPs.
CCleaner has past it's usefulness in many ways, best part was cleaning of Registry but starting with W7, Sp 1 even bloated Registry doesn't make any difference as it's not read serially any more like in XP and Vista but when a program looks for something it jumps right to point needed. Programs uninstalled with it use only Windows uninstaller which in many instances leaves a lot of garbage in registry and disk. Revo Uninstaller can clean that up when you uninstall a program thru it.

Windows Defender is very good now, nothing worse than any other AV. Also has PuP and other malware or potential malware Malwerbytes and it's Adwcleaner are after. If you install Malwerbytes, payed version that stays resident it ads more of resource usage, disk space and ca interfere with Windows Updates. Free version that doesn't stay resident can be useful in some circumstances.
Don't use any programs that promise maintenance to "Clean and speed up your PC", they are pure snake oil and can be downright damaging. Windows has own maintenance routines including disk cleaning and de-fragmentation for HDD and invoking trim commands for SSDs. Speaking of de-fragmentation, it's not needed since Win XP.
Almost forgot one of main tools in my toolbox. Macrium Reflect for making regular backups of system disk and other disks/folders and files. You never know when a disk will go belly up or get corrupted. Restoring everything takes 15-20 minutes as opposed of loosing hours and even days to eventually/maybe salvage valuable data or to reinstall everything from 0. free versions is good enough.

Thanks to all for tips.

Just to clarify something, I read and got answered that I shouldn't install AMD chipset unless there are issues. Also is there a difference if I download it from MSI MOBO site or from AMD?
Secondly should I uninstall the Nvidia drivers that Windows installed with the updates, and then install the nvidia experience+drivers after that. Or is it okey to just install nvidia drivers straight for my GPU ?

Hi BunnyKraken.

The Chipset drivers needs to be installed. It's not optional. The one on AMD's website should be used since they update it faster with newer versions.

Here is how most people uninstall their GPU drivers. Go to Windows ADD/REMOVE programs. Uninstall "Nvidia Display Drivers". Unplug your internet. Reboot. Install the latest Nvidia Drivers from Nvidia's website (Download it before starting to uninstall the drivers) without Geforce Experience. Reboot. Plug back the internet. Should have the latest GPU drivers installed after that.

Is this the correct AMD chipset https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

I have ryzen 3600 and MSI B550 Carbon Wifi.

Thanks for the Nvidia uninstall tip. Do you mean by install nvidia drivers the one that is for my GPU (GTX 1070 OC) and nothing else, and only to remove the ''Nvidia display driver'' before that?

Should this be done in safe mode and use DDU https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
I got recommendation to do it this way.

Secondly, a little offtopic but for GTX 1070 OC, I asume its the normal drivers not the TI. Need to google this.

Yeah you download this first - https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/168778/en-us (Exact drivers you need for your GTX 1070 NON TI)

You uninstall the Nvidia Display Drivers in the Windows ADD/REMOVE programs then you reboot without your internet plugged. You do not need to use DDU. After the reboot without the internet you will see that windows reverted to a default graphics drivers and the resolutions and refresh rate will be screwed up. Don't panic and just install the new drivers then reboot. Everything should be back to normal. Plug your internet back after that.

AMD Chipset drivers for the B550 - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

Install the chipset drivers first then reboot and do the GPU uninstall etc.

AMD Chipset drivers for the B550 - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

Thanks will do this.

How about the AMD chipset,

MSI has
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-B550-GAMING-CARBON-WIFI#down-driver&Win10 64

AMD Chipset Driver
Version
2.10.26.336
Release Date
2020-12-11
File Size
49.01 MB

and on AMD page its older ?https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

Revision Number
2.10.13.408
File Size
50 MB
Release Date
10/19/2020

I asume this AMD chipset is correct ?
Maybe its better to install is straight from AMD so there is no bloatware involved or any other packages ?

I just checked that 2.10.26.336 version and a lot of people are installing them just to realize that it says another version after the installation.

Go for the AMD one.

Would like to clarify if uninstalling is necessary, I read about that some people use DDU even with clean windows installation. And some just install new drivers and don't even remove the old ones.

I only have these files in apps&features. Nvidia control panel, and Nvidia Graphics Driver 432.00. So should I uninstall this graphics driver, is this the same as the ''Nvidia Display Drivers '' ?
Or should I just download the latest driver and install without uninstalling the older one first?

Also I've read something about AMD chipset causing micro stuttering in games, but I asume it's still good to install it.

Sorry to bother you with trivial questions.
