Hi Dude,
I am completely new for VM ware . i put my effort for going through VM ware . I have created a ESXI host using one of my desktop and installed vsphere client in another one desktop . both are connected with each other . This is a peer to peer connection . and set up static IP address for both . but unable to connect my Esxi with vsphere client . i want to know where the problem is?

Note: initially i faced a challange in booting ESXI image in that desktop and then tried EsxI customizer ..using customizer i have installed network adapter with ESXI ISO in the USB and booted successfully . but not able to connect with my vsphere client . whether the problem is with image or not? I need a suggestion? kindly help me to resolve this issue?

Are you able to ping the ESXI host from your client pc? If so then try to bring up a web browser and connect to the ESXI host with that. The ESXI host can be managed through a browser. If you cannot ping the ESXI host from the client then you know you have a problem either with your ethernet setup or your IP Addressing.

Hi ,
Thanks for your support for looking into this ..

I also tried a web browser . but not working and tried a customized image with network adapter also still facing the same issue and i am using I5 processor and used different edtions of ESXI like ESXI v 5.00, v5.5 , 6.00 still facing same issue . i have got a help from VM ware engineer also . but he also unable to make a communication between those systems .

But still i have a interest on learning VM ware . kindly give me a suggestion to make a home lap setup for vmware .

you are the first one that i got a help .. really thanks a ton:bounce:

Before learning VMWare and other virtualization technologies, you have to master first the network connectivity. I am pretty sure I've answered similar question a week ago, you have to make sure that your computers - server and client can talk to each other. If they are connected to isolated network, set up static IP addresses like 10.0.0.1 for the server, 10.0.0.2 for the client, with mask 255.0.0.0. You want to make sure you can ping one another.

Hi Aalbalcho,

The same configuration that i have been set up in both server and client computer . still both are not connected with each other..kindly assist me where the problem is?

Thanks and be in touch,

Hai ,

I value your points . I set up server which has a static ip address 10.0.0.1 subnetmask 255.0.0.0

and client ip address 10.0.0.2 subnetmask 255.0.0.00 . both are not ping . it shows "host unreachable" in cmd prompt

If i set up default gate way that also not working

i have a doupt on network adapter driver software . which is customized with my ESXI using ESXI customizer .i tried different driver software that also not working

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef-ppgsBIi0
.

PF video link . This is how i have created the customized image

If you know any other driver software kindly let me know . i will try that also and let you know what happens.

Thanks a ton,
Prakash

Lets get even more basic, is a switch involved? If it is are link lights lit on the switch and on the NIC of the ESX host and your computer? Or is the ESX host directly connected to the computer with a network cable?
