Question Ethernet Adapter Question

Just purchased an Ethernet Adapter but it only defaults to my extender network even after I disable that network.

You are going to have to explain more in detail what you mean it defualts to the extender network.

A ethernet cable should get a IP from the main router or you can manually set it.

When I plug in the cable to PC and router the only network I can use that goes through the adapter is my EXT network.

A Vostro could be a desktop or a laptop.
What exact model are we talking about ?
Can you provide a link to the adapter you purchased ?

What the wired adapter connects to will depend on where the other end of the wire is connected. If it is plugged into the extender, then that is what you get.

Yes, but it was plugged directly into the router.

This might just be a "name" thing. I am not sure how windows chooses the name for a network. The part that matters is what is the IP address. The only way it will work cabled to the router is if it is in the same subnet as the router and has the router as the gateway. That really is all that matters what name you call that network is hard to say. I know sometime windows will use the wifi name for a network even though you are connected via ethernet.

Ping the router IP. On a ethernet you should get 1ms or maybe up to 3ms but it should be very constant. Wifi you will get much more and it will have random large spikes.
