The company I work for uses many ethernet cables and they are great, apart from the tiny little plastic clips that hold the cable in. Over time and many insertions into different wall sockets and devices, many clips break and many different brands of cable have been used but it hasn't helped. I have looked and cannot find any information on this, but is there any ethernet cable companies that use metal clips instead of plastic for durability?

Thanks in advance and no worries if there aren't any :)

Putting metal tabs on RJ45 connectors would require extra manufacturing steps and such a ruggedized connector would destroy equipment jacks when cables get tugged instead of breaking off. I'd rather replace a $5 patch cable due to broken tab than a $100+ motherboard or whatever else is at the end of the cable due to busted Ethernet port. Also, you can only afford to break wall jacks so many times before you run out of spare cable to put a new connector on and re-running cables through walls at that point is going to wipe out any savings you may have made on cables with metal tabs.

Plastic tabs usually don't break unless something happened to the cable. Long-term, you are likely better off replacing cables than whatever is at the ends...

Okay thank you for the quick reply!!

The basic unsupported tab break easy, the boot design protects the tab but make removal a pita. So I like this snag-less design. This is slim run series from Monoprice, I have no trouble removing this cable.

Notice the whole jack is a tad longer than standard, and one pushes down on the blue hook instead of the tap. Because the hook is stiffer than the white tab, you can only push it down so much but enough to release the cable. I have no seen anything with a metal tab.

Ooh I like that design a lot! Thank you!
