Ethernet cable connected but it says there's nothing connected

Hey guys. So I've been looking online for the last 6 hours trying to fix this and nothing has worked. My pc is a little bit older so I can only get internet through the Ethernet cable. The other day I just got it fixed with a new motherboard and when I got it back I can't connect to anything. It says there's no cable connected even though it's plugged in and I can't connect to the Internet.

Can someone please help me, I don't know what to do

The first thing to test is another host device. Using the same cable and the same modem port does this happen on a known good device? If it does, then replace the cable. If that does not work, then look at the modem.

Unfortunately based on your reported symptoms it is most likely a defective ethernet port on the computer since it shows no connection. If you cannot get a new MOBO, then getting an ethernet expansion card may be the best option.

Look at the Ethernet cable you have.

On it you should see some printing on the out sheathing of the cable.
Read off what category of Ethernet cable it is you are using it should say CAT 5E or Cat 6.

Post back here on what Category the Ethernet cable is Branden first of all.
Please also state if you are connecting the cable from the system to a router.
If there are any Led lights lit on the back of the router where you plugged the Ethernet cable into it.
And what color of led lights are lit for that Ethernet port when the cable is connected.
