Hey

just build my friends pc and his ethernet cable isn't detecting ethernet connection but on my pc the cable works fine

Things i've tried:
Driver reinstall/Update
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns /release /renew
different OS on a different drive
DNS change
Router restart
Manually given him a IP instead of DHCP

And btw when I tried /release and /renew the error I got was this on the ethernet: No operation can be performed on Ethernet while it has its media disconnected.

And the ethernet cable is connected correctly

No visible damage on ethernet port as well

He has a realtek family controller driver

Bad cable or broken port or improperly connected cable.
You said, you ruled out bad/improperly connected cable.
Then remaining option is a bad port.

Install discrete PCIE ethernet controller.

Can you list motherboard model name?
Did you install chipset drivers for this motherboard?

i had the same problem recently...easy fix.

my router is a rectangular box which i had laying flat with a book on top. didnt think nothing was wrong with it.

my ethernet signal kept dropping and restarting. found out the router box was overheating. i then turned it on its side and all problems went away.

This is almost always a bad cable. It is extremely rare to break a port. Most time when they break they actually light up but do not function.

Just because a cable works on one machine and not another means little. Some machines are more tolerant of bad cables.
The equipment to actually test a cable is valid and can really pass data correctly are out of the price range of home users.
Just buy a new cable is the cheapest thing to try first. Be very careful there are massive amounts of fake cable being sold. Those flat cable all have wires much too small. You only need a cat5e cable but it needs to be pure copper with wire size 22-24. If you can not find that information clearly listed on the advertising try a different vendor.
