I am looking into getting an ethernet cable for my computer and the distance is 15-30 feet, there are alot of choices to pick from what would be the proper choice?

Key here is be sure to avoid fake cables.

There is a massive amount of cable being sold that uses wire that does not meet the standards to be certified as ethernet cable. The so called "CAT" name means nothing so vendors could put it on a wire coat hanger and call it a ethernet cable.

The wire must be pure copper with wire size 22-24. The main type of fake cable is the flat cable it has wire much too small, awg 30, bigger numbers actually thinner wire.

You need nothing special. Cat5e is rated for 1gbit at the full 100 meters. Buying some other CAT cable does not run faster or better. You might buy cat6 cable if it is cheaper but it will run the same as cat5e. The only other cable you consider is cat6a. This is the type of cable you buy if you have 10gbit equipment. Everything else is marketing. Things like cat7 cable where never fully certified and runs no different than cat6a. There is cat8 cable rated for more than 10gbit connection but it is very expensive since it is only used in data centers. Close to 100% of the cat8 cable that general consumers can buy is fake cable.

Although there are some more trusted brands it depends on what country you live in. Just be careful and read the fine print.
It will say pure copper and the wire size in legit ads. The reputable dealers know all about the fake cables and make it a point to show they are sell legit stuff. Avoid any cable that looks flat or thin.
