I built a gaming pc a couple weeks back and have been dealing with a pretty crappy dongle to get my internet which is a problem when it comes to ping because the router is quite far away. I keep looking at Ethernet cables on amazon but a bunch of them are defective and reviews say not to buy it. If someone could give me any suggestions of what Ethernet cable to buy, that would be great!

Amazon is loaded with fake cables lately. They use to just say CAT 6 or whatever since the CAT thing does not really mean anything. They have now gotten so bold as to put TIA/EIA certified on cables that can't possibly be. They have cooper clad aluminum (cca) which outright violates the requirement for only copper cable. They also many time violate the wire sizes which must be between 22-24 awg. All that flat cable they sell has 30 awg wire. Both these can not possibly quality to be certified just by definition even if they would pass all the data tests. Who know what lies they are telling on the ability of the cable to pass data.

Your best bet is to look for cat5e cable made from pure copper with wire size 22-24. Cat6...

Whoh those are a little overkill 10Gbps cables! In all honestly you would be OK with a Cat5e as long as you are not running it long enough to pick up any noise/interference. Those cables would definitely do the job though! :)

Cat6a cable is for 10g installation. Cat7 is not a fully certified standard and again is only used in 10g installations. Neither provides any value for someone who does not have equipment that can take advantage of 10g networks.

Pretty much selling anything more than cat5e to end consumers is marketing crap to con those who do not do research into thinking bigger numbers are always better.
