I have recently been plagued with a very frustrating predicament; My desktop, which has never had any issues with this setup in the past, will randomly disconnect from my LAN connection for no apparent reason and stay disconnected (No connection detected) for long periods of time. It will eventually detect the network and work just fine, but it keeps happening no matter what I try.

I have tried using the same ethernet cable (100') to connect with my laptop and it works without a hiccup. I have already reinstalled network card and mobo drivers, reset BIOS settings to default, made sure the network card(s) was enabled in BIOS and show up in DM, bought a new USB 3.0 ethernet interface, tried several cmd promts, disabled ipv6 (In adapter properties), checked DHCP client in services, updated .Net framework, and made sure all windows updates are, well... up to date. I have tried disabling all anti virus software and firewalls (temporarily), checked all other ports in the router (4 total), cleared all temp files... every potential solution that I have found online save for reformatting. Obviously, I am a little hesitant to do the ladder... but that is next on my list of things to try when I get another random internet surge.

I apologize for the lack of formatting, I am new to the forums. Any help or suggestions on this matter would be amazing.

Mobo: P8P67 rev 3.1
USB network adapter: Gigabit Ethernet - JUE 130

I will gladly post any other relevant information, just let me know what you need from me.

Thank you

Have you tried running a continuous ping test from command line? eg: ping google.com -t (ctrl+c to stop it)

Monitor the TTL for around 20 pings and see if the ping is steady? If it is dropping or spiking during, then it would be safe to say that your line could be at fault.

I would obviously try a few different ethernet cables also, just to rule the cable out. If this is happening on the USB ethernet as well as your onboard NIC then it has got to point to be stemming from the router or line rather than your system.

Have you ensured that your laptop is disconnected from WiFi when you have checked the ethernet on it? If the WiFi is still active, it would maintain connectivity regardless of the ethernet cable.

Just a few things to check.

Thank you for the response.

I have yet to run a ping test, but I have have disabled the wifi on my laptop when testing the enternet cable. I'll try a new cable to see if it works, i would just prefer to not buy a new 100' cable.

I will post my results, thanks again

I did not notice that you are using the Ethernet cable of 100 foot. This could be a factor. If you are using simple low impedance non-shielded CAT5 cabling, it can pick up noise which may affect your connection. You might be better to use solid CAT5e or CAT6 cable over longer distances.
