Ethernet cable

I own a PS3, and want to play Madden 13 online, can u please help me.

"An ethernet cable is not connected."

After readin the message above, I bought a ethernet cable and connected it to PS3 to router.

Internet is workin fine on laptop. I have a cable connected to modem and router, and a cable connected wall to modem.

Why do i continue to receive this message?

Hard to say, make sure its not a crossover cable and maybe blow it off (old school ik, lol) and plug it in and out a few times, reboot router and ps3.
