I got a combo unit from Comcast a couple months back to replace the old modem and wireless router I had. Unfortunately, it provides spotty wifi coverage on the 2.4GHz band but seems to work a lot better on the 5GHz network. Problem is, is that the wireless card in my desktop doesn't support the 5GHz band so I decided to go with a wired connection, but my desktop isn't recognizing the Cat6 cable. At first I thought it might be broken as I noticed a bend in the cable, but my Xboxes all seem to work just fine with it and downloaded about 10Gb of demos with no problem. I don't have another computer I can test as I only have a MacBook Air and a Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 which are too slim to have a port. One of the suggestions I read was to uninstall the drivers of the wireless card and to restart the system which hasn't helped. Device manager shows a yellow icon by the ethernet controller, and windows can't seem to find a driver for the network adapter. Any ideas on what to do?
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro if that helps.
