Hello all,

I am really struggling to figure what the problem I have is, I have googled everything and not found a solution. I am using windows 10.

I have an on-board network port via my motherboard which is a Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 which uses the Killer E2200 Ethernet controller.

So my PC is connected via a LAN cable and I am getting the network icon on the task bar which says I have internet access. I can use the PC fine for a certain amount of time, and for example if I am playing PUBG after a few games the connection seems to stop working, I have to go back to desktop and quit out of the game. When i check the network icon it still says I have internet access. Then when I try to load websites I get a blank screen on google chrome saying "err_connection_failed". Some websites do load but if they do it will be with limited information, almost like it is partly loading the page.

If I run the troubleshooter it doesn't detect any problems. If i reset the network adapter it doesn't solve it, only thing seems to work is rebooting (although it doesn't work everytime). I have updated all my drivers to the latest, I have completely removed them all and started again and it still seems to happen. I've also tried using different ethernet cables and ports but this makes no difference.

I am going out of my mind trying to figure this out!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Check your NIC settings in network and sharing then adapter settings. Right-click on your NIC (local area connection I believe) then go to properties make sure that you are getting your DNS, IP, and Gateway from the DHCP server (it may say obtain automatically).

That does not appear correct, click the icon in the corner of your screen that displays what network you are connected to https://imgur.com/a/OiFkF then click on network and sharing https://imgur.com/a/WJ1xB then adapter settings https://imgur.com/a/u8wLi right click on local area connection and click properties (don't have access to that its a school pc) and check the settings for the one that mentions IPV4. This also works http://www.pingzic.net/how-to-enable-dhcp-in-windows-10/

Did you configure your router up to use that DNS? Unless your router is set up to use the Google DNS as well then your computer cannot resolve hostnames because they will be using different DNS. A router will often times be used to automatically use a certain dns so unless you change both the workstation and router dns it won't work

Yeah the router is configured correctly, and like i said my internet works most of the time, it just seems to lose connectivity on my PC until a reboot is completed. If it wasn't configured I wouldn't have any internet at all.
