Motherboard is Asrock Z77 extreme 4
the drivers are Broadcom Lan driver ver: 14.8.4.1

I can connect to the internet via my router but not through my switch. I had internet via it before that. I had to uninstall the broadcom drivers, and after I tried to reinstall them, it just didn't work. I have "Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet" driver installed in the device manager. When I installed the drivers it says it installed this sucessfully but it didn't/couldn't install the Ethernet controller driver. I can't find it with a yellow exclamation mark either. What could be causing this behavior ?

EDIT: Tried with Realtek drivers, still don't work. It still shows that Ethernet Controller can't be found and can't install the driver.

Hi

What version of windows?
Have you confirmed network chip is enabled in uefi or bios?
Have you tried driver provided by asrock for your motherboard

Try booting from a live linux cd or dvd or usb to see if linux can see the network ethernet port.
This is to see if your windows driver registry is corrupt or ethernet port faulty

In most cases a missing driver will still leave a indication in device manager but occasionally drivers can interfere with each other

Was this problem caused by a upgrade to windows 10?

Hello. Sorry I forgot to add the version of Windows, it's Win 7 64 bit. The network chip is enabled, on my motherboard. I am sure it's not a port issues since the driver should be installed from the file I downloaded from asrock. It just notifies me that it failed to do so. So it may well that the registry is corrupt.
