Looking for the ethernet controller for a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5153. The computer does not recognize direct ethernet connection, only connecting wirelessly. Unfortunately, wireless connection is not an option for me at the moment, so I need to figure out how to fix my Ethernet controller. Upon looking at the Device Manager, I get one listing under "Other Devices" labeled Ethernet Controller. It is listed as
"Device Type: Other Devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: PCI Bus 3, Device 0, Function 0"

The device status is as follows
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."

Updating the driver manually yields no results, as without a working Ethernet controller, I have no way to access the internet for the system to find the driver. Not sure what else matters but the system is running on Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 on a 64 bit system.

Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide, this is rather a pain for me to deal with, since the only other computer that I have access to with working internet is rather old, and does not run very well any more.

I have already attempted to do so, however, I am having difficulty figuring out exactly what of the hundred some drivers listed are what I need. I've redownloaded the wireless LAN adapter based on what was found in the Device Manager for that, but the Ethernet Controller has had no luck.

After attempting this, the connectivity Doctor finds only Wireless LAN settings. It does not allow me to use basic LAN. Becoming confused. Is it possible that the laptop was improperly set up, and that it simply cannot connect to a hard wire LAN?

Nothing. No reaction whatsoever. Laptop just continues on like I haven't done anything.

Hmm.Doctor in configfree didn't allow you to use basic Lan and like you just said,Your laptop doesn't do anything when you connect Lan wire . There're more chances its hardware issue. But I'm confuse,If it's hardware issue ,then how did it allow you to install Lan driver . :/ You should give it for repair at shop.
