Ethernet crashes after a few minutes!

I recently tried to reinstall windows on another SSD but when I connected my ethernet cable it crashed after a few minutes. This didn't happen before I tried to reinstall it on another hard drive so I restored a backup I made onto the hard drive I am using at the moment. WiFi seems to work fine but ethernet causes the internet on my computer to crash and it is only fixed if I restart my computer. If it helps, there is an LED on the ethernet port on the computer that is green but when it crashes, it turns orange. The LED on the router ethernet port remains green the whole time.

go to a command prompt and type ping -t 127.0.0.1 and hit enter. If it fails at all you have a bad nic. If you do the same but ping your router, you may have a bad cable. Good luck!

forgot to mention that when the ethernet crashes, the WiFi no longer works as well and only works once I restart.
