Hello,

I would like to reach out to network smart guys (which I'm absolutely not), thank you in advance for your time trying to help me.

I just built a new desktop and it can't connect to Ethernet, but WiFi is working fine.
The network is looping in an "Identifying/Unidentified connection/Unplugged cable" cycle.
Network adapter is onboard of an MSI MPG X570 gaming pro carbon.
Latest BIOS installed, latest pilots from MSI website installed.
OS is Windows 10 Pro 1909.
I'm using a router and my laptop Ethernet connection is working properly (I've switched Ethernet cables, swithed ports, etc)

Troubleshooter issue found is: "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration".
It's been 2 days I've been testing all the solutions I could find online:
  • netsh winsock reset
  • netsh int ip reset
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /renew
  • Uninstall Network adapter/reinstall drivers
  • Disable Enable
  • Clear CMOS
  • Reset network
  • Reinstall windows
ipconfig/renew could never be performed actually as the unplugged loop stop it with the error: "the operation was cancelled by the user".

Latest ipconfig/all : https://pastebin.com/rxca6fec

Next step is bringing the motherboard back to shop, I hope anyone can help :)

Update: here is the ipconfig/all from my laptop on the same network : https://pastebin.com/mKnf2ief

Best regards.
Vincent

It appears that you have both a wired network adapter and a wireless network adapter enabled on the desktop.

On your desktop ensure that only one network adapter is enabled.

If you want a wired connection (Ethernet) then enable that adapter and disable the wireless adapter.

Also noted that your router is only providing a 2 hour lease time. Not a problem per se but could be a contributing factor.

Just FYI:

Thank you for your reply.
I changed the router DHCP lease to a longer period, 2h doesn't make much sense for home network.

Also disabled Wireless adapter through the BIOS but Ethernet still looping.

Latest ipconfig/all which has only Ethernet adapter now: https://pastebin.com/SrrTetdg

Update: Changed Speed & Duplex to 100Mbps Full duplex and it's no more looping.
Reached "unidentified Network" state but ipconfig/renew still can't be performed with this error: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request timed out.

Just tried Ubuntu from bootable USB key and no Ethernet there as well.
