I recently upgraded to windows 10 and starting watching YouTube videos on some of the features. I was watching a video about how to make my PC 100% faster with windows 10 and started following the steps. One of the steps was to change my preferred and alternate DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I did this and carried on with the rest of the video. Everything was good until I restarted my PC, I had no connection. The title of the thread is the error message I got when I tried troubleshooting my problem. So I backtracked and set the DNS server address back to automatic but that didn't help. What should I do?

2 possibilities:

1. for some reason your PC is unable to obtain an IP address from the router,

you can try plugging into another port on the router,

try running the following command
netsh int ip reset

try reinstalling network drivers.

2. your router is not providing an IP address to your PC

you can try to turn it off and back on

you can try to access the router's web interface from another PC and check the settings.

you can reset the router to factory defaults
