I have looked through many of the other threads with this title. I also seem to be in almost the same exact situation as others with this problem. My ethernet has been working great for the almost year now that I have has this laptop (Lenovo y500), but now in the past few weeks, the ethernet has decided that it does not want to work.
I have tried thing such as:
-Shutting down PC, unplug modem, unplug router, wait a few minutes, then plug back in/turn back on
-Deleting and reinstalling the ethernet driver. (Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30))
-Manually specifying the IPv4 IP address
Nothing has worked as of now.

I am pretty bad when it comes to computers, but most of the times I can fix a problem like this. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a usb to ethernet adapter you may try that to see if it's the ethernet port itself that's the problem. You could also figure that out if your router has wifi by trying to connect wirelessly. Other than that I wouldn't have too many ideas for you to try. Are you sure that you entered all the necessary and correct information when manually configuring the IP address?

The wireless is actively working. That is how I am browsing at the moment. And I am not %100 on the manual config, I just watched a video on how to do it.

Well if your wireless is working on the network, and your Ethernet port doesn't work even when you have it set to automatically detect IP settings, then the port on either your computer or the router may have gone bad. You can try different ports on the router/modem if you haven't already. Also I might ask, were there any changes made to the system prior to this issue? Could be windows updates, firmware updates, etc? Any of that happen?

Sorry about responding a few days later. The problem is persisting. I have attempted to switch the ports in the modem with no prevail. I have not made any big updates. There have been windows updates that have been occurring around once or twice a month. I have read countless amounts of threads with the same problem. One piece of information that I have found since last: when I do an "ipconfig/all" the default gateway for my ethernet adapter is missing. I have also looked for a solution for this with no clear answers.
