I have recently decided to switch to Ethernet from wireless as i have been having connection problems. I have plugged the Ethernet cable in between my PC and router. The error i get is "Ethernet" doesn't have valid IP configuration. It also says 'Unidentified network' and 'Limited'.

Things i have attempted already:

  • Reset my router
    Unplug my router and modem
    Restart my PC
Enter commands 'Ipconfig/release' and 'ipconfig/renew' in command prompt
    Update drivers
I have a custom PC and the Ethernet adapter is 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' this is the LAN connection from my motherboard(Asus H81m-plus)
Router model : technicolor 582n
My internet provider is Plus net and they say that everything's fine on their end.

I would really appreciate your help.

It is set to DHCP and yes, when i did ipconfig/renew it said something about disconnected media and that it couldn't perform the task due to this.

I just tried pasting my ip into chrome cause i think that's how you get to the router main page but it doesn't seem to load the page up.

okay, so i got onto the router main page but what exactly am i looking to do here?
