Got all the parts, put the thing together, loaded up windows 7, everything went off without a hitch, time to connect to internet to fully update drivers, I stick the disc that comes with the motherboard in, install ethernet driver: looking for connection.... failed!
I decided to just go and install it from my current computer via usb, downloaded latest driver, drag to other computer, load it onto new computers hard drive, install driver, NOTHING!
I updated the BIOS on the MB, I uninstalled the old driver and put in the new one, I uninstalled that one and reinstalled the one on the disc, I reset computer every time, still nothing.
I even have a USB wireless internet connector to see it if was just the physical connection to the ethernet, still nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

Solution
Make sure that windows 7 is activated properly, as it can disable the Ethernet.
Check this on "Control panel"
Under "System and security"
then "System"
At the bottom it should say windows activation check it says "Windows is activated"

Enabled all LAN options in the BIOS, and it was enabled when I went into the BIOS, so I've got no clue.
Still didn't work after enabling all LAN options, nothing very specific other than the standard "Enable LAN" was in the options seemed like it would do anything...

I saw no option for it, nor anything pertaining to activating Windows.

Couple of years ago I bought Windows 7 for an old computer I never used since I reused vista, but it asked for an activation key when I loaded up to the desktop.

Ok, I am extremely embarrassed, I've built 3 computers and always troubleshot and fixed their problems, but never had this:
The Ethernet cable on the router was plugged into the WAN port instead of the standard LAN port, as I had swapped a bunch of cross-house cables around to reach the new computers. Just now realized it when a laptop had the cord plugged in. Thanks for the help and mods or whoever can go ahead and close the thread now.
