Ethernet drivers won't install. "No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer"

Hi everyone

I'm so sick, I'm stuck on this since yesterday morning, I've tried everything but maybe I'm missing something.

My specs:

Mobo: Asus Rog Strix Z370-G
Proc: i7 8700k
Ethernet: Intel Ethernet (I219-V)
Windows 10

I must update all the drivers first of all, updating the ethernet adapter before everything else would sound like a perfect idea. But Windows recognizes the network adapter as Unknown, hence I can't connect to anything and download nothing.

I began downloading the drivers which ASUS has in their website:

I chose Win 10 64.

I couldn't install the VGA and LAN driver. Do I have to update something first?

The LAN driver says:

Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer.

So I downloaded the drivers from the Intel website:

Got the same message as above.

I've tried this method as well:

In the step 6 I have like 5 versions of the Ethernet (I219-V), I picked up one of them, a Warning message appeared and after 4 or some of minutes of waiting, failed.

Hi, did you click to show all under the Asus drivers for lan and vga? There's another driver if you click show all. Perhaps they need to be installed first?

Do you think I should install an old version of the driver first and then the latest? I haven't tried to update the wireless driver though.

Chipset drivers have to be installed first. Only then you can proceed to other drivers.

Theres two versions of your board it seems.

Theres this one you originally linked,

Then theres this one without the WI-FI-AC next to it

Driver versions appear to have the same numbers but yeah, check which mobo you have.

Yep I have the WiFI AC one and I have downloaded the drivers from that board. Sorry I forgot to mention that detail.

I'll double check if the BIOS is updated. Do you know if this Asus board can be updated from the bios using internet, before installing Windows? I have the bios update CAP file and I have't done the USB flash yet. Maybe it's not updated at all... a guy who helped me with the hardware told me he updated the board, now I guessing if he really did.

Do you think it would work if I download the drivers from here, copy to a USB stick and install in the PC?

Can download any drivers or bios file from any pc and transfer them.

The bios wont read ntfs format so youll have to format usb stick to fat32 using rufus. Can store the other drivers in there along with bios file, just needs to be formatted first.

Id try the drivers i suggested first before flashing bios

eFat format option from Win7 through to 10 wont work needs to be fat32, rufus can do it.

Indeed! I will do that first tonight. Also I'll double check whether the Bios is updated or not before attempting to flash.

Ask that guy who helped you which bios he used. He knew you had the WI-FI-AC version yeah? Not flashed from the wrong board?

A possibility, flashing shouldn't succeed but seeing both mobos are similar, the validating process might not have detected the wrong bios file.

Since this is the WiFi model, is it possible that the Intel LAN Controller is disabled in BIOS?
I don't know if this would prevent driver installation, but it could be the reason the LAN adapter doesn't show up.

Thank you all guys for your help. This community is simply wonderful, I built my first PC all thanks to your advice.

I installed the WiFi driver (I don't know why I didn't do this before) and it worked perfectly. The Ethernet device appears now in the Device Manager after the restart.

I still have way to go. My GPU doesn't appear in the devices manager, even though my monitor is connected to its HDMI port. Weird. The bios recognizes it. When I try to install the drivers, the Nvidia installer says "This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows"

If your choosing the right bit (64bit) driver for your version oh Windows and it says that, id reinstall windows again. Unless Nvidia had linked to the wrong driver (unlikely) your os is messed up dude. If you put in the correct information for drivers it shouldn't give errors like that.

Yes, I just updated Windows 10 64 to its latest version and now everything works like a charm . Device Manager now recognizes the GPU and everything else. It was a software related problem indeed.

By the way, trying to update Windows 10 (Remember that I already had Win 10, I just updated to the last version) was a pain in... The installation got stuck at 99% for more than 15 hours, it was a nightmare. This method worked flawlessly:
