Ethernet dropping connection to any and all games

I've been having problems with my connection for a while now. In the beginning, after we had switched to Spectrum, I was receiving the full connection through my ethernet.

Soon it became spotty with spikes of ping and it as a result made my games pretty laggy but I could stay connected.

Now, however, even with a direct line to the router, I cannot connect to any games whatsoever. My download/upload speeds are fine and I can stream videos and browse just fine, but if I try to maintain connection in games I will drop out after a minute or so of play.

I've been running a ping test to 8.8.8.8 and just watching it, doing nothing on the computer, it can time out for long stretches of time or even be unreachable.

I've replaced the ethernet cable, reset the router, and even tried the wifi signal, since everyone else in the house uses wifi and doesn't have a problem, but nothing has worked so far.

It is not my computer, as I brought it over to a friend's house, plugged into their ethernet, and maintained connection to the ping test and online for a few games just fine.

Is there anything else I can try? What could be causing this?

What make and model router?

There may be some error logs that will help identify the problem if the logs are 1) available, and 2) enabled.

Who has admin rights to the router? You will need assistance from that person to check the logs and other related configuration settings.
