ethernet, dual band nic and dual band router?

if my router is dual band and i use a dual band capable NIC would that be better than an ethernet cable?

Probably not, no.

Depending on the router and LAN adapter in the PC, it is probably capable of 10/100/1000Mbps.
You will never get that with current WiFi equipment.
