Ethernet isn't working

Hello there recently we got a new 500MBPs internet and so I wanted to start using a LAN cable. But it had not worked not with my old internet and not now. Iv'e tried switching cables and it did nothing, with my old router and my new one. So the issue persist with the computer I downloaded LAN drivers to my computer which previously I had not installed. I spoke to Vodafone and they said It was the drivers. The internet is connected through and underground cable, not that would matter. I am clueless please help.

Other components
Graphics: MSI GTX 970 gaming
Memory: 8GB RAM
Processor: Intel i5-4690
OS: Windows 8.1 64xbit

ok... troubleshooting NIC's

without a cable connected, in Device Manager, what do you see in the Network section?
If you have WiFi that adapter, an Ethernet adapter, BlueTooth adapter... Nothing else.

Do any of them have a yellow triangle on them?

Right click and select Uninstall, keep drivers

Reboot

The system will re-install the last driver set upon restart.

Open a cmd box (type cmd into Run)
ping yourself "ping 127.0.0.1"

Does it work or fail?

can you plug directly into the new Modem (do this when the modem is off for a minutes, then power it back up)
from the same cmd box type ipconfig
does it give you a valid address after the modem has come up all green and online? (valid is one NOT starting w/ 169.)

(Being directly connected to your Modem is not idea, just FYI, do this for testing.)

If you get a valid IP address open the browser, do you get a home page?
