So i installed windows 11 on a new PC via USB (I used the Windows Media Creation Tool for this) By the way this pc has an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Max WiFi motherboard.

Of course I was prompted with the "Connect to a network" screen which it was plugged into ethernet but for some reason has no connection (guessing no drivers)

So I decided to pull up a command prompt and run OOBE/BYPASSNRO to bypass the network requirement. Afterward I continued with the install and no ethernet/wifi driver was automatically installed for me so I grabbed the ethernet/wifi driver for the motherboard from MSI’s website using my laptop and put them on to the USB stick and transferred them over to my desktop PC after the install was finished.

The wifi driver installed fine but the ethernet driver won’t install, it also doesn’t show a realtek device at all in device manager even with hidden devices shown.

Upon running the installer I get this error which says - “The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable .”

Yes I did extract the folder correctly for the driver setup. I will be happy to provide any additional info if needed. If anyone can help me to resolve this issue and get my ethernet working it would be greatly appreciated.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

As I understand your post you installed the drivers for the wired/wireless network adapter.

Ensure that the wired network adapter is enabled and that the wireless network adapter is disabled.

Run"ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt.

Copy and paste the full results here.

Although not as common on a desktop check the bios setting to be sure it is not turned off or disabled in some way.

This is acting like you have a defective ethernet chip but it very well could still just be a driver issue.

Most linux installs have built in support for the more common chips. You shouldn't actually have to install linux it can run directly from the USB stick if you want. Most linux have a similar memu to windows that lets you look at the status of the ethernet. You might also see it in the messages that flash by when it boots. Really though you could just try the web browser that is installed by default if it also doesn't work it likely means the ethernet port did not activate under linux also. That would be a very strong indicator of a hardware issue.

If the above posts did not help or assist you you may need to reinstall and then on the point where it asks you to do the network setup skip that step and install your LAN/mobo drivers before connecting ethernet at a later point

In the windows 10/11 setup on network part of install

Shift + F10

oobe\bypassnro

or may be oobe\ bypassnro

with or without space after forward slash.

Could be a option.
