So I think I've downloaded the latest drivers (I ran the .exe files and restarted the computer).

Windows (without a key activated yet) doesn't recognize that my working Ethernet cable is plugged in though.

New to this, any help would be much appreciated.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from me1324 : "Ughh I cannot get Windows to recognize my Ethernet"

So I just built my first PC and I think I've downloaded the latest drivers? (I ran the .exe files and restarted the computer).

Windows (without a key activated yet) doesn't recognize that my working Ethernet cable is plugged in though.

New to this, any help would be much appreciated.

Is the network led light up when you plug in the cable? look at it from the back
is the Ethernet cable work on any other device?

Sorry for delayed response.

Yes, I downloaded the drivers there.
I don't see any light at all.
Yes, it is brand new and I've used other cable that should've worked, as well.

In BIOs I just turned "Intel LAN OPROM" on and enabled "Network Stack" not sure what either are or where to look. They were in "Onboard Devices Configuration" and "Network Stack Configuration" respectively.

In device manager, I think so. In "Network Adapters" it shows "Intel(R) I211 Gigabit Network Connection" (also has a bunch of "WAN Miniports")

Is it possible I haven't finished setting up the drives?

Is there a way to check either? I'd rather not have to return the MOBO without knowing.

Update: So I switched where I was plugging the cable in for the source of internet and it ended up detecting the ethernet cable. So it seems that I have a different issue entirely lol (I was plugging the ethernet into my house wall's ethernet port which is supposed to work) looking into it.

got a laptop to test the connection? or a router?

Thank you very much for your help. Turns out the Ethernet port I was plugged into had been unplugged previously. Now everything works.
