Hi!
So, I don't understand a lot about computer and I'm not an english speaker, but I'll try to explain the best I can,
I'm using a Tower that my brother used in the past. He had problems with the Ethernet connection. It simply didn't work. He had the red cross in the Internet signal. So he stopped using that Tower and is now using other one. I used other computer, that went bad so my friend put my hardware in my brother's tower. In the first week of use I had no problems with ethernet (using a different cable of my brother's), but now I have the exact same problem. My ethernet does not work. I tried many solutions, but none seems to work.
The network adapter is activated. When I troubleshoot it says someting about a telephone cable being thicker than a normal Ethernet cable.
My WiFi works.
Any idea of what can I do?

If you look at the Ethernet port on the back of the computer you will see 2 LEDs. They should look like this:

If those LEDs are not on, then you have a physical problem (bad cable, bad port on computer, or bad port on router). Look for dust in the ports or a bent pin or try another cable.

If those LEDs are on and look like the ones under "Normal Operation", then you have a software problem.

That's what I call a double whammy, trouble x 2. Can't english, can't tech, so communication between us will be exceedingly difficult, and we are dealing with a technical subject. Stick with WIFI. Whatever we are able to ask u to do, u will understand maybe 20% of it, no offense, and intermittent, not full off/full on problems are the most difficult to diagnose. Or call geeky cousin Vinny to come over even though u don't like him :) Serious.
