okay so i may a thread earlier about why my computer is saying the Ethernet cable is not plugged, even though it is, and this has started AFTER I re-install the realtek family controller for windows 8.1 64 bit driver from the ASUS website, so i tried many things:

-resetting the router and modem, and different cable, but when i connect the cable to the laptop, it works.

- tried to reset the TCIP and winsock through the CMD as administrator, but I get denied and when i tried to change the permissions on netsh.exe, it gets all grayed out.

-update the motherboards bios

- do a system restore point

-wiggle the cable in the port

-uninstalled the driver, re-installed it

- uninstalled the driver and let windows automatically put it back in after resetting

- tried plugging the cable to all the router's ports

and NONE of these worked!!!! is there ANY WAY at all to fix the Ethernet? or am I stuck with buying a new network card? If so on the latter, whats the best network card for ASUS z87-K motherboard?

OH and i forgot to put the ipconfig info, here it is:

Solution
When looking at the motherboard, there are 2 other USB ports beneath the ethernet port. Do these work? If they don't, then there's a good chance that block is shot.

If the 2 USB ports work, maybe a quick call to ASUS support might clear up if there is a known issue with the ethernet port.

Solution
you mean besides the ethernet port? yea all the usb ports in the back work fine, its just the ethernet port and again, this all started after i tried reinstalling the realtek network adapter driver.
