Ethernet Port Not Working?

I recently built my own computer last month with wifi. It is the MSI MPower Z87 motherboard. I recently wanted to hook it up via Ethernet cable however when I plug the cable into the port, it doesn't do anything. I have tried multiple Ethernet cables so it has to be the port I'm guessing. I'm not a technical genius so I really don't know what to do at this point. There is also no light flashing on the port, I don't know if there is suppose to be one, just giving all the information I can about my problem. Is it a faulty port on the motherboard? Thanks

I am almost positive I do. I went to the MSI website and downloaded all the drivers for my motherboard. No 100% sure what one would be for the Ethernet port though, so maybe I missed it?

The Windows device manger tells you. Either there is a yellow exclamation mark next to an unknown device, or there is a is a working network adapter. And you are totally right: the light should flash! It doesn't mean, it is working. But it indicates an electrical connection at least. Do you connect to a router or switch? Can you change the port on that side of the cable?

I connect to a router on wifi and I want to connect an Ethernet cable to the router but when I plug it in, nothing appears. I go to network settings and it doesn't even give me the option of connecting through the port. What do you mean by change the port on that side of the cable? Sorry not to technically wise.
