[SOLVED] Ethernet port on D-Link DGE-528T network card (link below) OR ethernet port on motherboard.

Solution
What do you mean performance to what the internet or do you have some special requirement for data transfer inside your house.

There are a number of msi boards but I think yours has 2.5g ethernet port. In theory this should be faster than any 1gbit port. It is not that simple though since you would need fast ports in your router and whatever you are talking to. If you plug it into a 1gbit port on the router it will run the same as if your machine has 1gbit port rather than 2.5

If you mean the internet you would first have to have to buy a gigabit internet connection and then many servers on the internet have artificial speed limits to prevent people with high speed connections from affecting people with slower internet...

The only real reason I would consider a add in card is if there was some issue with the motherboard. Normally there is not but in the case of 2.5g ports there have been all kinds of driver issues on many different brands. I would try the latest drivers....even though it seems to be a rapidly changing thing and sometime the older ones work better. Not sure why the manufactures messed up the 2.5g ports so badly.
