Ethernet randomly disconnects but WiFi doesn't?

Hi,

So I've been having this issue for awhile now.

When I'm on my PC if I'm connected to my router via Ethernet cable then the internet will work but I will randomly disconnect quite often. The disconnects are only for a few seconds, but whilst playing games on my PC it can often mean me being kicked out of the game etc.

However if I play on my WiFi connection then it never drops out but it's obviously frustrating because the ping is a lot worse and can spike quite heavily.

I'm on Virgin Media SuperBroadband in the UK if that helps at all.

Any other information needed feel free to ask.

I could only reinstall drivers for ethernet, if that doesn't help i would then uninstall any ethernet drivers and reboot PC and let Windows install "His" drivers and see if problem persists.

Try to update/re-install the driver for the ethernet adapter. You can also try a different ethernet cable (preferably a known working one) to see if it is the cable causing the issue.

I have sorted out the drivers, I'm waiting for a new Ethernet cable should arrive tomorrow hopefully that will confirm if that is the issue.

Just to cover all of your bases, you can also try plugging into a different port if the new ethernet cable still produces the same issue.
