Solution
get a closer look at your cable connector. There are 2 types of connection. One is starting with whitegreen/green and the other is starting with whiteorange/orange. Are both the old and the new the same?

Also the cable can be straight through or crossover. Straight through is when both ends are the same, like both connectors start with whitegreen/green. Crossover is when the one end starts with whitegreen/green and the other end starts with whiteorange/orange. Are both the old and the new the same?

New networks interfaces and switches etc , have auto sense which enables them to use any kind of cable , but sometimes if you don't use the correct type you may have trouble.
