I just ran a 100' ethernet cable from my router to my TV above the ceiling tiles and down the wall, which as you can imagine is a big pain in the rear. I have two other electronic devices I want to hook up to the Internet as well but instead of running two more ethernet cables through all of that mess can I hook my existing ethernet cable to an ethernet switch and then hook up the other devices to that? Or is there another way to achieve the same result? Thanks

Why the hell would he need second router? Simple unmanaged switch is plenty.

That is the exact way you should do it.

Connect the one cable from the first modem/ router to a second one then connect any client machines to the second router.

A slight bit of advice if you are going to do this.

You may have to fiddle with the firmware and setup of the second router.

It will depend on if you wish to have all of the computers on the same network, or IP pool address given by the first router setup with Dhcp mode enabled, or set to on.

Or if you wish to create two networks where based on what router each client machine is wired or connected too.
If you understand what I mean.

The easiest is to keep the two routers with in the same network or IP pool set by the first router.
