In the last few days, the ethernet symbol has been showing up in the lower-right instead of the Wi-Fi symbol, however I don't have an ethernet cable. Additionally, the main MS apps I use for work (Edge, Store, Cortana, Office 365 and so on) are not connecting. Skype and Opera can connect perfectly.
Download speed has dropped as well. I thought it was the router at first, but all other wireless devices including another Windows 10 laptop are working fine.
Spec: HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p279NA with an AMD-A10 quad core processor, 8GB RAM, Realtek RTL8723BE Wi-Fi card. Kaspersky Internet Security. Relevant apps allowed through firewall, all drivers are up to date.

Any advice?

UPDATE: Having tried the laptop with 2 other Wi-Fi points, the issue is definitely on the laptop. Currently now using an Ethernet connection, however should I remove the cable, the Ethernet symbol stays there, the Wi-Fi symbol doesn't appear, however Opera and Skype work fine over Ethernet. Edge, Cortana and Windows Update along with Office365 will not connect at all unless I am on hard wire.

I have already done this, no difference.

Interesting, I did just that and the usual Wi-Fi symbol appeared when I wasn't connected to the router via hard wired connection. So clearly something in my Kaspersky settings is causing the issue.

Any idea of where to turn to next in the myriad of options?
