Ethernet Time Restrictions

So I've just finished building my first computer and my parents want to put time restrictions on so i don't stay up all the time playing. Because I am mostly using it for gaming, i am insisting on using an Ethernet cable, but none of us know how to apply the time restrictions. Whenever i plug it in, it gives me unlimited access. Which really isn't an issue for me. But Its either time restrictions or wireless. Which i would really prefer not to have. If anyone knows a way to fix this it would be great. They've already tried taking my MAC address, but that did nothing.

AE's seems to have wireless access controls but not for its ethernet ports. You need to add a smart switch with such controls.

Unless you have an extremely fast Internet connection there is no advantage to a wired connection over a wireless one.

The feature that uses time restriction is not related to wireless or wired. It is a software feature that can limit access based on a number of things like siites or time of day. This feature is generically called parental controls but some routers it is in the firewall others it is in the QoS section.

I do not know if your router has that feature but it is fairly common. You put in a mac address and put in a rule that say what times of day it can run.

The brute force method would be to buy a small $20 switch and put it between your PC and the router. You could then use one of the simple power timer things that would turn the power off to the switch during certain times of the day.

Actually, it is restricted to the wireless network on an Airport Extreme, as the OP said.
