I have searched through the forum and have tried the numerous answers for the problem but I have had no luck so far.

Yesterday I broken the wireless dongle that my main PC was using. To get around that, I have tried to connect an Ethernet cable from my laptop (which is connected to my router wirelessly) to my PC. The wifi is set to shared in the network settings on my laptop.

My PC however wont recognize the connection to the laptop. The list of available networks shows an unidentified network with a limited connection. In the network and sharing center, it has' Access Type: No network access| Connections: Ethernet' which suggests it hasn't connected to the network.

I have tried different Ethernet cables re-installing the network drivers, using different versions of the network drivers in case one was faulty, releasing and renewing in the CMD, doing the netsh reset in the CMD, checking to see if the DHCP client was running in the services window.

PC - Windows 8.
Laptop - Windows 7.

I will be getting a new wireless card within the coming weeks so this would be a temporary setup, but I am struggling to get it working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ah ok. Well im not sure how to do that exactly, so I think I will just wait until I get a new wireless card. Thanks for the help.
